This month began with Alisha's school's winter program. Alisha played a reindeer (in case you couldn't tell). Alisha's first dance recital was also this month, on my birthday of all days! In the afternoon we attended her tap recital and in the evening Jim, Tami & Dad joined us in watching Alisha perform in the Nutcracker. Afterwards we ate dinner and by the time we (finally) ate birthday cake, it was 11:30 and we were all exhausted! My birthday wish for next year is to not have another hectic birthday!
We took Alisha and Jacob to have their picture taken with Santa at Bass Pro Shops. Jacob didn't smile, but he didn't cry either. I guess that's all you can expect from a 6 month old!
We spent Jacob's first Christmas in New York. Thankfully he behaved (for the most part) during his first plane ride. Alisha was hoping for snow in New York, and she got what she wished for, sorta. Snow was waiting for us upon our arrival...but was gone the next day. On the bright side, it snowed the day we left, New Year's Eve. I was proud of Alisha because she made the most use of the time she had and there were no complaints!
We kept busy during our trip to New York! On Christmas day we went to Wappinger's Falls, where we enjoyed Christmas dinner with my Ammachi, aunts, uncles, and cousins. We also had a 1st (hopefully annual) gathering of the 2008 baby trio: Ethan, Hannah & Jacob.
Other visits: We drove to Staten Island and saw Sanjay's cousins. We trekked to central Jersey to have dinner with Joel, Namita & their kiddos, Joshua & Lily. Some would say we were crazy to take 2 kids + 2 infants to a restaurant, but our party of 8 somehow made it through dinner with no major meltdowns :) Our final stop in New York was to visit my cousin Ani, her husband Merrill and their kids Priya (who's only 8 months older than Alisha) and Joshua. Alisha had a great time with her almost-the-same-age cousin.
We look forward to our
return trip to New York in July 2009!
